Veteran Sentenced to 25 Years ZD2117877
We are a small nonprofit fighting to persuade Congress to repeal harsh and unfair mandatory minimum sentencing laws. These are the laws that put low-level, nonviolent drug offenders behind bars for absurd amounts of time. A big part of our advocacy is telling the stories of real people affected by these laws. This short video (about a minute in length) tells the story of one such case -- a veteran who in the heat of the moment during a fight at a party, shot his gun. No one was seriously injured. He is serving 25 years in state prison now.
