IN DALLAS, TEXAS, A 6-MONTH-OLD DIES AFTER THE BABYSITTER COULDN’T REACH 911.
DURING THAT TIME, EMERGENCY OPERATORS RECEIVED A SURGE IN CALLS, CITY OFFICIALS SAID IN A STATEMENT. AT ONE POINT, MORE THAN 400 GHOST CALLS CAME IN, PROMPTING THEM TO BRING IN 10 ADDITIONAL OPERATORS.

THE RACE IS ON TO FIGURE OUT HOW TO PREVENT FUTURE 911 ATTACKS.
THESE ATTACKS ARE DISTRIBUTED DENIAL OF SERVICE ATTACKS, WHERE MULTIPLE COMPROMISED SYSTEMS OFTEN INFLECTED WITH A TROJAN, ARE USED TO TARGET A SINGLE SYSTEM.

9-1-1 CALL CENTERS, THE HEART OF THE NATION’S CRITICAL INFRASTRUCTURE, ARE VULNERABLE TO THESE ATTACKS.
DURING AN ATTACK, IF SOMEONE DIALS 9-1-1, THEIR CALL WILL NOT GO THROUGH.
THE UNIVERSITY OF HOUSTON IS WORKING TOWARDS A DDOS RESILIENT EMERGENCY DISPATCH CENTER THAT WILL ENSURE REAL EMERGENCY CALLS ARE ANSWERED DURING AN ATTACK.
Please note that you should only use the script or your recording of it for auditioning purposes. The script is property, unless otherwise specified, of the voice seeker and it is protected by international copyright laws.
