Project Main Details
24 Storytellers from UF went to Cuba in May 2017 as a part of a class and study abroad experience. These students and coaches are multimedia storytellers in the College of Journalism and Communications. They got to engage with locals and the culture of Cuba during a 10-day trip. They produced stories on artists, athletes, climate change, environmental struggles, a changing economy, etc.

About the doc-style show:
We are creating a show based on their work. The VO work will be transitional pieces from one topic to the next. It will be a 30-minute show with about 8 or 9 video stories interspersed between VO transitions. The tone is: approachable, friendly, down to earth, inspirational. We want a voice like a student but with emotional depth...not too dramatic though. This is about portraying the rich depth of Cuban stories without sensationalism.
VO transitions is about 1,000 words.
We don't have a timeframe of airing but will be in the next three months. Your name will appear in the credits. 2017-06-22 14:29:31 GMT 2017-06-30 12:00:00 (GMT -05:00) Eastern Time (US & Canada) Yes (click here to learn more about ) Closed 45 44 0 direct invitation(s) have been sent by the voice seeker resulting in 0 audition(s) and/or proposal(s) so far. This is a city of contradictions. A place where everyone drives too fast, but waits three hours for dinner at a restaurant. A place filled with hustlers, who wouldn’t cheat you out of a penny. Havana is filthy and gorgeous, spacious and cluttered, wild and yet obviously constrained.
Everything ages gracefully. The faded pastel buildings, most of which are in shambles, still radiate a haunting beauty. Everything old shines with the hope of being new once more. It is a city praying for change but holding on tight to tradition.
Over a period of 10 days in May 2017, 17 students from the University of Florida College of Journalism and Communications traveled to Cuba to engage in a multimedia storytelling project. This group of curious students took on the challenge to observe a country that has been off limits to America for decades. Here are their observations and experiences with a vibrant people and place. Here is Cuba, Outside In.
