Timeless Rivals
ZD3199706
Timeless Rivals is a documentary film that chronicles the 120 year plus history of the Ohio high school football rivalry between the Canton McKinley Bulldogs and the Massillon Tigers. They have been playing since 1894. In that century and a quarter of football many notable players, coaches and innovations have emerged. These two schools have greatly impacted the game of modern football. It would not be the same without them. Two pro football hall of famers and ten college hall of famers have participated in the storied rivalry. Thirteen Super Bowl rings have been accumulated between Bulldog and Tiger players. Five McKinley or Massillon graduates have become NFL head coaches. The players, coaches and fans will tell the tale of the games, the stories, the anecdotes that have shaped the rivalry and how the rivalry has, in turn, shaped football on all levels.

An award winning author has written an intro. It totals about 3 minutes. We are looking for a male voice to narrate this open He must sound wise and confident. He will represent the soul of the rivalry, the old sage. We would prefer an African American voice talent but are open to anyone who fits the above description.

We are planning on holding premieres in Massillon and Canton in October. Additionally, we will produce 2,500 DVDs for sale. Eventually we want to add on-demand outlets such as Amazon, iTunes and Netflix. However, we will not address that prospect until after the showing in the two cities. It depends on how the premieres go.

Football, that distinctly American game, grew up in a gritty place, far from the big cities, a place of smokestacks and cornfields. No place has a superior claim to fathering this most grueling of games, than Ohio’s Stark County.

Each hard-earned yard was a celebration of self, of overcoming obstacles, each yard lost a summons for digging deeper. This was the true gridiron. But here, it was the iron and steel that made the father’s sweat in the mills that made America the productive envy of nations, that helped win two world wars, and came to be the ultimate metaphor for America itself.
