Project Main Details

The Oklahomans
The best way to get an idea of what we are working on would be to take a look at our rough draft with a provisional voiceover:

Our idea is that the voice should start off quietly with "It was always the land of a second chance…" then build to a more traditional trailer voice on "It was always a big land…" and continue that way until the end of the video, but your thoughts would certainly be valued if you have other ideas.

Epic trailer voice maybe with a Morgan Freeman sound near the beginning, which starts off with "It was always the land of a second chance." Something that sounds rough and aged, like an old man recounting a story that most people forgot long ago.

Script Details

It was always the land of a second chance.

When the first immigrants came from Asia thousands of years ago…

when Coronado and the conquistadors searched for the Seven Cities of Gold…

when the Americans compassed it for Thomas Jefferson as part of the Louisiana purchase…

The Santa Fe Trail…

The California Road…

When the five great Indian republics walked their trails of tears…

and made one final stand for their independence in the Civil War…

when the Plains Tribes fought American pioneers—and each other…

then were confined to reservations…

As the Buffalo Soldiers and other African-Americans struggled for justice and full rights as Americans…

It was always a big land…

a wild land…

with big dreamers… who never heard the word “quit”…

White cattle drovers, former confederate soldiers, Christian missionaries, Midwestern farmers, and immigrants from many nations making for the only kind of land many of them could afford…

It is a story carved with a Bible in one hand…

and a rifle in the other.
