The Future is STEM
ZD1893192
This project is a voiceover for my capstone project I'm working on at the University of Cincinnati's College of Design, Architecture, Art, and Planning. The final project is going to be around 1.5 minutes, and is an animated piece talking about the benefits of going into a STEM career. The audience is young adults, between 7th grade and a freshman in high school. I'm hoping for a voiceover that has a tone that would appeal to that age group (friendly, approachable, and motivational/inspiring).

STEM...What is it?

It’s Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics!...(pause)

The number of STEM jobs is projected to reach more than 9 million by 2022. 1 million more than there were in 2012.

The road toward a STEM career isn’t defined by one path, but each one starts in the high school classroom.

Classes like Calculus, Biology, and Chemistry don’t exist to torment students.

They exist so you learn and are able to launch yourselves into your careers.

Challenge yourself with those classes and you can help design future software technologies or websites...research the chemical processes of living organisms...engineer the world’s most inspiring buildings and bridges...or go into any of the other abundant STEM careers.

STEM is important because it moves us forward...Just look back to our caveman days.

Human modernization started with our ability to control fire. And that capacity to problem solve, led to innovation after innovation after innovation...until today.

Computers now fit in our pockets. Self-driving cars are on our roads. And the prospect of sending people to Mars is just on the horizon.

The future innovators and forward thinkers are here right now. In high school classrooms across the country. But it starts with your education.

Taking the necessary classes allows you to succeed in the future. It allows you to shoot for the stars...because you may be the one getting us to them!

The future is STEM...will you be a part of it?
