Project Main Details
This is an audio tour focusing on the story of Texas Independence from Mexico.
Talent should be able to pronounce Spanish words.
We are looking for a storyteller, not an announcer.
Texas... Its very name is synonymous with a spirit of independence; grit; and tales of men and women who stand tall - and never shrink from a challenge. But where did this remarkable cultural identity come from? It’s an identity born out of... revolution.
This is a story about events - and people - that often seem larger-than-life. Sam Houston. Santa Anna. Jim Bowie. Davy Crockett. Juan Seguín. There are the Texians; the Tejanos; the massive Mexican Army - and the ragtag band of rebels who, against all odds, defeated it. We’ll meet these people and hear their stories and, in the end, arrive at a deeper understanding of the beauty - and savagery - of the Texas Independence Experience. 2017-05-25 21:09:33 GMT 2017-06-04 16:00:00 (GMT -06:00) Central Time (US & Canada) Yes (click here to learn more about ) Closed 45 45 0 direct invitation(s) have been sent by the voice seeker resulting in 0 audition(s) and/or proposal(s) so far. And soon, an epic story would be written across this terrain… in blood.
Men would conspire. Battles would be fought. And legends would be born.
1821. The winds of change blow across this land. Mexico, after more than a decade of rebellion against Spanish rule, now finds itself free. It sets in motion an extraordinary chain of events.
The new government outlaws slavery – and enshrines freedom. New immigrants flock to Tejas [TAY-hahs], primarily from the American South, lured by the promise of land.
But these settlers would soon launch… a revolution; risking their lives to battle a massive army that marched northward.
Those who rose in defiance - they were men and women. Tejano [tay-HAHN-o] and Texian [TEX-ee-in]. Anglo and Mexican. Names like Stephen F. Austin. Juan Seguín [Seh-GEEN]. Sam Houston. Susanna Dickinson. These were the characters who stood against Mexican General Antonio López de Santa Anna [ahn-TOE-nee-oh LOE-pez day SAHN-ta AHN-nah] – and his army.
The places where many fell… the names still haunt us. The Alamo. Goliad [GO-lee-ad]. Unspeakable tragedy - and, on a remote field in southeastern Texas, a shocking, decisive victory. Just 15 years after Mexico rebelled against Spain, Tejas - or “Texas” – now emerged from Mexico… an independent republic.
The Lone Star flag is raised - and flies proudly, a symbol of grit… determination… independence… an identity forged in revolution… that endures, nearly two centuries later.
Get ready to explore the sites – and meet the people who risked everything. It’s the epic story of the Texas Revolution.
