Script Details

Tim is pretty unexceptional in every possible way. His hobbies, according to his internet dating profile, include 'Netflix & having fun ;)'. His physique could be described as a perfect example of 'dad-bod'. You get the idea.

Tim's social circle is pretty much limited to the kid that grew up across the street: Mark. Mark, however, handled puberty a bit better and is considered to be 'pretty cool'. He plays guitar in his basement and has lots of friends. Go Mark.

Naturally, he’s got a smoking hot girlfriend: Sophie. Sophie is ‘into photography’. This mostly consists of taking pictures of herself with her phone camera. And sometimes a sunset. And her lunch. Most of Sophie's friends are unimpressed with this hobby, but all of Mark's friends claim to be fans.

So Sophie goes looking for new friends on the internet. She finds a social network that allows photographers to host galleries. So she joins. So do all of Mark’s friends.

Meanwhile Mark joins a network that allows him to post his music. Naturally all of his friends also join this one - despite not actually producing any music whatsoever.

Suddenly, the photography site realizes that all this image hosting costs money and well, they don't make any… So, they agree to start hosting advertisements for cameras and other photographer stuff.

Mark and his friends immediately lose interest in the site and switch to chatting with each other on the music site instead.

Meanwhile, Tim, lost in the shuffle here discovers the fine art of blogging. He publishes a witty periodical about the struggles of coming of age in an upper-middle class suburban family without any real hardships. He develops a huge following.

Realizing that they too need to somehow earn an income, the blogging site decides to release a little game where the users raise unreasonably adorable pets that never poop by intermittently clicking on them throughout the day and spending actual money to buy things for them. Like little outfits and crap. Within weeks it becomes an internet sensation and the site can afford to expand its capacity.
Tim is promptly elevated to the status of minor celebrity, where he reigns comfortably until he actually attempts to approach a girl in real life.

Welcome to the world of Sociable where you take on the role of a social network vying for the incredibly limited attention span of a tiny world of real people with real interests.

Implement features in an effort to persuade influential people to join your network, and carefully try to figure out some way to make the whole process worth any money. Good Luck. You’re gonna need it.
