Script Details

1 - . Hostilities began when forces struck President Habyariman’s plane with a surface-to-air rocket as it landed in Kigali.
. Unconfirmed, early reports claim all on board were killed, including Burundi’s President Ntaryamira. With violence and civil unrest in the streets, citizens are urged to stay in their homes.

2 --- . -citizens are reminded to stay off the streets and in their homes until order is restored. Reports maintain that Kigali streets have been overrun with conflicts between government troops and the militia. The airport has ceased all outgoing flights as the violence spreads from the city center to the rural areas along the outskirts of Kigali.

3-- With the Rwandan death toll reaching nearly eight-hundred- thousand people, many in the Tutsi minority seek asylum as refugees in the neighboring countries of Tanzania and Kenya. Government issued statements condemn the ongoing violence and call on neighboring countries to embrace Rwandans seeking asylum in their country.
