‘Twas the holiday season, when all through the house,

no one was recycling, not even my spouse.

The plastic was flung in the trash without care,

in hopes that someone else would handle my share.

When out in the yard there arose such a clatter,

a neighbor had slipped on my old deli platter.

That’s when I knew, I had to do something:

at Philadelphia streets dot com backslash recycling.

I learned about paper, plastic, and also cardboard,

and I learned something else: my recycling reward.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++STOP HERE FOR AUDITION

I can earn points, that really do pay,

for something that’s easy: recycling the right way.

So I took to the streets, spreading word where I went,

“Recycling’s good for you, and the environment!”

They asked, “What do I do?” “Can I recycle my aunt?”

I said, “I’m so sorry. I’m afraid that you can’t.

So keep this in mind, if you’re ever in doubt,

plastic bags and Styrofoam: just keep them out.

For most of the stuff that the holidays bring,

go to philadelphia streets dot com, and get behind recycling.”
