Project Main Details

News Podcast Proposal to Major Publisher Feb 2017
The purpose of this audition is to record a sample voiceover read for a news podcast that I am pitching to a publishing company. Essentially, I too am auditioning, as this recording will be used as part of the pitch. I hope the podcast that I'm proposing will be accepted by the publisher and will become an ongoing daily project, but there is no guarantee that it will be green lighted.

If the podcast proposal is accepted by the publisher, the pay rate will be determined according to the number of people who listen each week and by the advertising rate the podcast can garner. This means the pay will vary week-to-week and the voice talent will be a stakeholder, receiving a share of the revenue the podcast earns, verifiable by server logs. The voice work would be done under contract and would be ongoing.

I will listen to all auditions received and will most likely present more than one to the publisher.

The news readers I'm looking for will sound like Todd Mundt, Dan Bernard or Christine Marshall of the New Yorker Magazine Audio Edition on Audible. Listen to samples at .

Script Details

Note: Please read at as fast a pace as you are comfortable with. Don't make it sound rushed.
The dateline should be read faster and flatter than the body copy.

Dateline: February 18 at 4:20 AM KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia — Read by [your name]

A man from North Korea has been arrested in Malaysia in connection with the murder of Kim Jong Nam, the North Korean leader’s half brother, as a diplomatic row erupted over the body.

Saying the first autopsy had been inconclusive, Malaysian authorities said they would perform a second post-mortem to try to ascertain what killed Kim Jong Nam, whose was sprayed with liquid in a brazen attack at Kuala Lumpur airport and who died en route to the hospital.

The decision to carry out a second autopsy will anger North Korea, which strongly objected to the first one and is insisting on having Kim Jong Nam’s body back, accusing the Malaysian government was acting on the orders of South Korea to “conceal something.”
Please note that you should only use the script or your recording of it for auditioning purposes. The script is property, unless otherwise specified, of the voice seeker and it is protected by international copyright laws.
