Listen carefully at your safety briefing when you get to an event.
Make sure you know what you need to do to keep yourself and others safe.
Ask questions if anything’s not clear to you - health and safety is everyone’s responsibility, including yours!
Once the Safety Briefing has finished, it is time for Mike to head out to his flag point for the day.
But, Mike’s preparation doesn’t stop there.
Before track activity commences, Mike also needs to do a few more final checks.
He needs to check that he has all his flags and other necessary equipment at his post in accordance with the Safety Plan like an operable fire extinguisher, broom and oil soak.
Mike, or his colleague(s) will also need to conduct a radio check and, if utilised at the event, check that the lights are operational.
The most important thing to check is his own area for trip hazards.
He should also devise an escape plan...should the worst happen.
