We need a child voice over with an African accent to narrate our documentary short.

Deng, a former Sudanese refugee, shares how at ten years old, he went from relative prosperity to risking his own life to eat leaves in a Sudanese jungle. Child illustrations will document more challenging episodes like this from his life: battling hunger, watching his friends die, and trekking through jungles, deserts, and warfare, as he and several other children tried to reach Ethiopia by foot. A child actor will portray Young Deng creating all this artwork. We need the voiceover for these scenes.

My name is Deng.

I am a Lost Boy of Sudan.

When I was ten years old,
government forces destroyed my village.

Me and my best friend Abiel escaped to the jungle.
I would not see my family for five years.

We set off for the Promised Land: the Pinyudo Refugee Camp in Ethiopia.
We were joined by other boys.
Thousands.
Many died of hunger,
of thirst.
Abiel, he died in my arms.

I had now seen death with my own close friend.

As we were going down the road,
I could see skeletons of other people who had died.
This could be me.

Finally, I reached the Promised Land.

What did I find?
Disease.

More people died at the refugee camp than our entire journey across Sudan.
But that is where I found God.

I know what refugees around the world today,
millions of them,
are going through.

Many have died.
I want to make sure their stories have not died with them.

My name is Deng.
This is my story.
