Mwabu educational software ZD1673046
Mwabu creates educational content for use on tablets in primary school classrooms. We work across Africa, in countries including Zambia, South Africa, Kenya, and Tanzania. Our lessons cover Maths, Science, English and other subjects. We are now looking for voice talent to bring our content to life. There is a lot of material to be voiced - several hundred hours worth to be spread over the course of 2017. We need people who can work regular hours to meet our deadlines. We're seeking voice actors who can speak with clarity and enthusiasm to keep our students (aged 9 to 13) engaged with the material. A generic "BBC African" accent would be ideal to make our content work across territories.

Unit Objective: To identify and use similes
In this unit I will learn...
-what a simile is
-to identify similes
-to use similes in sentences
A simile describes someone or something by saying that they are like something else. It helps us to make a picture in our mind.
Similes always use "like" or "as ... as". Can you find these words in the similes?
This is my grandma.
Her eyes twinkle like stars.
She is as old as the hills.
Her hair is as silver as the moon.
Her heart beats like a drum.
Here are some similes that describe people.
Can you imagine how the people might look?
The boy was as angry as a bull.
My sister ran as fast as a cheetah.
My face was as cold as ice.
Drag the words from the bottom of the screen to finish each simile sentence.
Write each sentence in your book.
He had skin like a snake.
His nose was like a potato.
His face was as round as the moon.
His ears were like flapping wings.
Find like and as in each simile sentence.
He was as free as a bird.
I was as happy as a dog with a ball.
The teacher roared like a lion.
She ran like the wind.
Did you find them all?
You can use similes to describe an animal.
Think about: face, ears, eyes, teeth, sounds, fur, skin, tail, movements.
Look at this example which describes Happy Goat.
Happy Goat’s horns are as sharp as knives.
His hooves are as hard as stone.
His fur is rough like straw.
His white beard is soft like cotton.
His tummy gurgles like a drain.
He sits and smiles, as happy as a fish in the sea.
Now it is your turn!
