Legendary trauma surgeon and faculty member of McGovern Medical School at UTHealth, Dr. James “Red” Duke established the trauma service at what is now called Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center. In 1976, he helped to launch Life Flight®, the state’s first emergency air ambulance service. For almost four decades, he served as Life Flight’s Medical Director.
