1. Ceremonies are generally smart occasions and we're sure you'll want to look your best for your photos. It's important to remember that your arm, from the elbow down, will be visible against the gown, particularly if you're wearing a long-sleeved shirt. To avoid this standing out you may want to wear a jacket underneath your robe. Additionally, you might also want to consider wearing a tie. Although most gowns and hoods now have velcro, it's still a good idea to wear something with a buttoned front as it will help the hood neckband sit better. When choosing your outfit you may want to know the colour of your academic dress. To help you, we have colour swatches next to each item when you place your order online. We completely understand that you want to look and feel your absolute best on your graduation day, and for some this may involve wearing fake tan. Unfortunately we advise against fake tan as it can rub off onto your clothes (particularly the hat band and robe sleeve). It also shows up very strongly against the colour of your robe, particularly in photographs lit by flash. If you're required to wear a hat, please make sure that you style your hair to accommodate this. 2. We suggest arriving early to get dressed into your gown, so that you can make the most of your day. Don't worry about how the robes are put on - we will provide a dresser to help you and our friendly team of staff will be able to answer any queries that you might have on the day. We wish to fully accommodate everyone, so please let our staff know before the day if you need extra help i.e. If you have a disability or if you are a female and would prefer to be assisted by a female dresser. Many institutions will ask you to be seated at least 30 minutes before the ceremony begins, so please allow time to get from the robing area to the venue. Although it may seem good fun for photos, we kindly request that you do not throw your mortarboard. Not only can it damage the mortarboard but people have also been hurt by them, so we would politely ask you to refrain. To return your robes, simply drop them back to us at the end of the day, making sure your reference ticket is attached. If you would like to hire your robe for an extra week, then you can arrange this by speaking to a member of our team. A week's extra hire costs £20 or £25 for PHD robes, this includes the return postage and packaging. 3. We really recommend pre-booking your photography slots to make sure you get a time that suits you best. If you don’t pre-book, then please arrive early on the day as you might be able to have your photos taken as soon as you're dressed. If that option is unavailable, then you can minimise waiting time by speaking to our photography team (usually our head of queue staff) to ask if there are any available sitting times left. We offer both individual portraits and group photos with family and friends. You can choose from different backgrounds and we sometimes also offer award presentation photography (dependent on institution). Whilst waiting to get to the studio sales desk, if you haven't already done so, please try to decide which of our products or packages is best for you. This will speed up the photography process for everyone, ensuring that we get you back to your celebrations as soon as possible. If, for any reason, you change your mind after your graduation you can edit your order through the "My Account" section of our website any time before the photos are printed. A link to an online gallery of your images will be emailed to you within 24 hours of your ceremony. 4. You can personalise your photographs with our selection of mounts and handcrafted frames. We offer a wide variety of styles and finishes, and all our real wood frames are made from Forestry Stewardship Council (or equivalent) sources by a team of skilled artisans. At the sales desk you will be able to see a variety of frame customisations like adornments, v-grooves and gold blocking. Frames are also available to buy for your graduation certificate, and are a good way to protect them from damage. 5. We pride ourselves on extremely high quality photos, and have a team of professional editors who will colour balance, crop and do minor touch ups to your chosen images. Additionally, we can provide extra editing options such as teeth whitening and complexion enhancement for a small fee. Once printed, all of your orders are individually wrapped in recyclable packaging and delivered to your door within our standard four week delivery time.
