Project Main Details

Given Shelter
Hi! I’m looking for a male voice actor who can do a 1940s/1950s North American announcer accent for a documentary about a public space in Downtown Los Angeles. Here are some examples of what I'm looking for:,,

**Although I’d like for this to have plenty of character, please make sure to enunciate each word clearly and treat each sentence as a separate thought so that there is plenty of gap between them for me to edit. And no need to add any effects or filters, as my sound designer will do this later.

**This project began as a master’s thesis at MIT's Department of Urban Studies and Planning, as a way to test the use of cinematic techniques in urban design. For the final film, I am focused on creating an immersive experience that can help people think differently about public space (in different ways than my last film, the cerebral city

**This is technically a 'buyout' as the project will likely involve shorter and longer versions. The goal is to distribute it online and in film festivals, via both MIT and independently. I will definitely give you proper credit for your work, and the ability to use this in your reel.

**Thanks so much for auditioning!

Script Details

Downtown Los Angeles has through the years been the natural center of public and private transportation serving the county. However, the rapid increase in automobile traffic has taxed the existing street system almost to a breaking point. This image shows graphically the tremendous flow of automobiles into and through the downtown district.

To meet this insistent demand, a system of freeways is being projected and planned by state, county, and city engineers.

Permanent parking facilities must be made available for the automobile user if downtown is to get its fair share of the increase in business in the Postwar period. Construction of a garage under Pershing Square would meet a large part of the requirement for centrally located parking space at comparatively high rates.
Please note that you should only use the script or your recording of it for auditioning purposes. The script is property, unless otherwise specified, of the voice seeker and it is protected by international copyright laws.
