Project Main Details

Galapagos Islands Wildlife Animation
ZD2344702
This project will result in an animated infographic about a selection of wildlife found on the Galapagos Islands. It will be delivered through simple, fun fast facts.

It is a project for my motion media design class. I have attached a few slides from my proposal document here, including a rough storyboard, styleframe, and design concept.
You can find more examples of my work in general at my website, www.samanthagreeneart.com

The animation will focus on cinematic illustrations with subtle motion. The selected animals for this animation are:
Blue-Footed Booby, Marine Iguana, Galapagos Penguin, Fur Seal, Magnificent Frigatebird, Giant Tortoise

Clear narration is mainly what I need. If you have a personal style that you think would work well for the script then please feel free to try it!
Note that with each * there is a scene change.

Thank you for your time, I am excited to hear what you come up with!

*Located approximately 600 miles off the coast of Ecuador, the Galapagos islands are near 3 tectonic plates and 5 ocean currents. This situation has created a unique environment that allows for wildlife to flourish.

*One of the animals found here is the Blue-Footed Booby. The male’s courtship dance consists of prancing, bowing, spreading their wings, and raising their heads to the sky. Females will select males with the brightest, bluest feet, as it is an indicator of good health and youth.

*Along the shores, Marine Iguanas are often seen lounging on rocks. These gentle herbivores eat underwater algae and seaweed, which they easily forage off rocks with their short, blunt snouts and razor sharp teeth.

*One of the smallest penguins in the world, the Galapagos penguin is also the only type that lives north of the equator. Krill and small crustaceans make up the bulk of their diet. Like many species of penguin, these creatures typically mate for life.

*The Galapagos fur seal is one of the few mammals native to the islands. These seals spend more time on land than any others in the world.

*The colonies of Magnificent Frigatebirds that inhabit the Galapagos are thought to be genetically distinct from their mainland counterparts. Males have a giant red throat pouch which creates a bright, stunning display when fully inflated.

*The giant tortoises native to the Galapagos are the largest in the world, weighing up to 595 pounds. It is also one of the longest living vertebrates, with the potential to live over 170 years.

*These are just a few of the animals that can be found in this unique landscape. They, along with many others make up the wildlife found in the incredible environment of the Galapagos islands.
