Usage: In perpetuity, internet use only.
Where it will live: On website (to be shared once selected), social media
Union status: NON-UNION only.
Target audience: Young to middle-aged adults, people who have an interest in data, machinery and engineering.
What we're looking for: Upbeat, happy (but not overly excited), steady, awe-spiring tone. This is a video animation that is posting online. The style of the animation is minimalistic, simple in shapes - almost futuristic.

FULL SCRIPT: Data is flooding the world. Smartphones and jet engines, parking meters and power plants, all our machines have sensors that record and transmit their current state of being. And these days, from the moment a component is built, its virtual twin is also born in the digital world. Every second, these smart machines are monitoring their conditions, reporting on their state. But when everything is talking at the same time, doesn’t it all just become noise? Now there’s something to start making sense of all that data. It’s called the Digital Thread. It’s a big idea. The Digital Thread ties together data from before a component is made—when it is still raw materials and schematics on an engineer’s computer. The thread keeps going from machine installation through its operation, maintenance and end of life. It then pumps this information into Predix [ pronounced Pree-Dix ] and shuttles it to the people who need to see it, when they need to see it. With data seamlessly integrated and analyzed, new efficiencies and ways to do business are possible. Machines run optimally and longer, with less downtime, thanks to predictive maintenance. Technicians get routed to where they need to be to keep operations running smoothly instead of wasting their time on scheduled maintenance. Project managers see the origins and life cycles of components so they know what to order and how much it should cost. The Digital Thread is a new concept that stitches several different digital systems together to link people, machines and processes. Machine productivity, history and predictive analytics are all combined into one powerful application designed for the way we work. From sourcing, commercial and engineering considerations into manufacturing and then the supply chain. From unit installation, through piloting to full operation. And the smartest condition-based monitoring through just-in-time replacement parts and the transparent purchasing and supply chain that supports it all. This is industry in the modern world. The Digital Thread is breaking down barriers between the physical and the digital in all levels of GE’s business, making new insights and advances possible.
