There will be difficult medical terminology in the script so talent must be able to pronounce terms correctly. A pronunciation guide will be provided when scripts are approved. Targeted script approval date is June 2nd.

Let’s start by reviewing the basic concept of an electroencephalogram, or EEG. An EEG is a test used to detect abnormalities related to electrical activity of the brain. Small, metal discs with thin wires, called electrodes, are placed on the scalp and then send signals to a computer to track and record the brain wave patterns. Normal electrical activity in the brain creates a recognizable pattern. When the waveforms deviate from these normal patterns, it can indicate seizures or other conditions.
The difference in voltage between two electrode sites is what creates the EEG waveform pattern. A waveform is a graph of the electrical voltage over time where the vertical axis represents voltage, or amplitude, and the horizontal axis represents time, or frequency.
Amplitude is used to measure the voltage of the electrical activity. This voltage is measured in microvolts per millimeter.In the waveform, amplitude dictates the vertical distance of the wave.
Frequency measures the number of cycles that occur every second, or cycles per second. The EEG waveforms are measured in Hertz and are described based on their range of frequency. These frequency ranges are indicators for normal or abnormal brain activity.
