Project Main Details
At its Hidalgo plant, a greenfield packaging facility was built for a new product line offered to the market by Cruz Azul: Tile Mortar.
For this facility, Cruz Azul required a full packaging line with the ability to fill 8 different types of tile mortar into its bags and prepare them on a pallet for transportation. Cruz Azul chose to partner with BEUMER Group to help meet the project goal for a system throughput of 2,200 bags per hour.
The tile mortar begins its packaging process at the BEUMER fillpac® R, a rotary bag filling machine, with a potential capacity of up to 6,000 bags per hour.
During the project, the final source of raw materials changed. With this, the tile mortar changed in weight and density, which resulted in the need for the product to be placed in smaller sized bags. To solve this issue, BEUMER was able to install an automatic bag placer, helping keep production goals on track.
The entirely automated process begins with this bag placer, which guides empty bags onto highly pressurized filling spouts which optimally compacts fine grained material.
After the bag is filled, an electronic weigher verifies the filling accuracy and weight of each bag, automatically removing bags that fall outside of quality standards.
The bag then passes onto a high-level palletizer, first moving through a bag flattener to help optimize the bag stack quality. A twin-belt turning device then properly arranges the bags for placement onto a pallet.
High level palletizers can provide a throughput of up to 5,500 bags per hour, while ensuring high stack quality and gentle handling of the bags. It can achieve impressively high daily outputs, helping process orders faster.
Once the bags are fully arranged on the pallet, it moves to the Stretch Hood A for the last step of the packaging process, Stretch hooding.
The Stretch Hood A provides high throughput, while maximizing the pallet’s load stability, helping secure it during transportation. Transparent film enables an excellent display of the packaged goods, and film with company logos can be used to provide better brand visibility. The thick film is weather resistant, and can also improve theft prevention.
In addition to being an ergonomic solution for its operators, the space saving design of the Stretch Hood helps reduce facility footprint.
After BEUMER handoffs a system to its customers, its work is not complete.
Through a comprehensive global network of service centers, BEUMER offers customer support through service, warranty and lifecycle management programs, as well as supply critical spare parts.
BEUMER’s support solutions help keep customers systems running 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
For its material handling needs, Cruz Azul has partnered with BEUMER Group for many years, with installations that include numerous BEUMER bucket elevators, Autopac truck loaders, Paletpacs, and now, a full packaging line.
