Project Main Details

Breathless video game prototype
Job Description
We are looking for the voice of Alison, the main protagonist of a video game. Currently we are finalizing the prototype and, if it is validated, this will become a full AAA console project with much more work starting in January.

Don't be fooled by the low word count. We are looking for good acting skills and there are some sounds (breathing) that need to be recorded as well. :)

Thank you!

Script Details

We are looking for the voice of Alison, the main protagonist of a video game. Currently we are finalizing the prototype and, if it is validated, this will become a full AAA console project with much more work starting in January.

Alison is about 18 years old and at first she gives out a bit of a difficult teenager vibe. But overall, she is a good person. Basically, we are talking about an ugly duckling story. At least that’s what it will seem at first.
However, the game is a psychological thriller with a dark side. And Alison is a big part of that dark side. While it isn’t needed for this audition, please keep in mind that Alison will need to shout, yell and show a range of realistic emotions.

The prototype is one scene from the game, where Alison waked up in the trunk of a car; she has no idea of where is she and tries to get out. Unlike the game itself which will be very much dependent on the dialogue, in the prototype Alison is alone and will only scream for help and, basically, freak out.
The car will first stand still, then roll into a lake, then float and finally sink as the water will slowly fill the trunk.

It is best not to think of the project as a game, but more of a movie. We want as much realism as possible.
On the next page is the full script for the prototype. You can pick any couple of lines for the audition. Alison’s lines are in italic bold.
Feel free to improvise if you feel that your character would behave a little differently. If you feel that this is a situation in which you would swear, please do so – the game is for a mature audience.
Thank you!

The following is heard off-screen. It is a calm, determined, serious voice:
It doesn’t end like this.
Then the voice becomes stronger as she tries to wake up the player. Alison says it in a friendly, but urgent and commanding tone:
Open your eyes!

As Alison opens her eyes in the trunk, she is at first calm and sleepy. It takes a few seconds for her to realize that she is in a trunk. She sees the light in the trunk and thinks to herself in a sleepy voice:
The light is on. The trunk must not be fully closed. Maybe a bad contact.
Then the idea of what she just said sinks in and she panics:
I am in a trunk!!!

Alison starts banging on the trunk while screaming:
Hello!? Anybody there? Help! I am in the trunk! Heeelp!

While the player examines things in the trunk, depending on the action, Alison thinks to herself.
After examining the pockets:
After examining the lock, for a bit seeing a ray of hope:
It’s the lock! Can I open it?
After kicking the lock, a bit out of breath:
It’s metal. It won’t budge.
After examining the plastic cover of the rear light:
I think that I can tear this cover off!
