Bicycle Diares GARAGE

We are exploring two different options for this Garage Bike character.

GARAGE BIKE Option #1: Adult male or female, 20-35

Seeking voice for a web video to promote an urban cycling event. You’ll voice the role of a neglected bicycle, who’s been hanging upside down in a garage for a little too long.

The bike likes to pretend it doesn’t care, but it can’t help but resent its so-called owner when she walks right by and gets into her car every day.

Think Chris Pratt.

GARAGE BIKE Option #2: Adult male or female, voice age: 20-40

Seeking voice for a web video to promote an urban cycling event. You’ll voice the role of a neglected bicycle, who’s been hanging upside down in a garage for a little too long.

This bike is not surprised that its owner’s biking obsession was just a phase, but it’s also pretty over being left hanging like this.

Think Aubrey Plaza or John Malkovich.

In your audition, please let us know which character option you're doing. Please have a working home studio set up and ready to record (ISDN or Source Connect would be a bonus!). Budget is $300. Use is web buy-out. Video is 45-60 seconds long.

thank you!

“GARAGE”

Open on close-up of car bumper in an open garage. Its bumper sticker reads: “My other car is a bike.”

We hear a door open, footsteps entering the garage, and the door closing out of frame. The footsteps continue and a woman’s feet enter the frame.

The car door opens, the woman gets in and the door closes. We hear the engine ignite. CUT to a wide shot of the car pulling out of the garage and away from the house.

We see a bike hanging in the empty garage and cut to a medium shot of the bike on the wall, in the midst of other items in storage.

We hear the garage door and the light gradually disappears.

BIKE (V.O.)
Mmhmm.

There she goes again. Driving away in her au-to-mo-bile.

I, myself, have not been out in a while. What with winter happening… five months ago.

CUT to another angle. A box labeled “winter clothes” sits on a shelf in the background.

BIKE (V.O.)
“See you in the spring,” she said. “I’ll be back for you soon,” she said.

Guess she was just pulling my chain.

CUT to another angle, showing other items nearby, including a Razor scooter, an old Baxter-brand toaster oven, etc.

BIKE (V.O.)
They say misery loves company. I say it depends on the company.

I mean, the scooter is a little dim, but it means well.

Baxter, on the other hand, is a piece of work.

Two simple, hand-drawn eyes appear on the front of the toaster oven. It blinks once or twice. CUT to another angle; the bicycle and toaster oven remain in frame.

BIKE (V.O.)
He thinks we’re the same…

CUT again.

BIKE (V.O.)
Do you have any idea what a 25-year-old toaster oven smells like?

Wavy lines radiate from toaster oven, as if a smell is wafting from it.

BIKE (V.O.)
Like toast. Old… burnt toast.
