Versatile deep tones, from friendly to foreboding
My voice and style has been described as "a deep-toned, seriously funny guy but not in a Stephen Wright kind of way." That's what happens when you get a copywriter to do your talking. Let me put it another way. I can do everything from a heartfelt public service announcement to a hard driving monster truck event ad...even a limited number of character voices. I have very good enunciation and I can fit more copy in thirty seconds than the average voiceover person. I've also done plenty of long form narration as well as phone system voiceovers. I'm always willing to try something new and I take direction well. In addition to that, I'm a full-time video writer/producer/editor so I understand the importance of a quality voiceover when it comes to the finished product.

While I don't do celebrity voices (unless you count bad Arnold Schwarzenegger), I can do some character voices including Don Pardo-style announcer reads and I do pretty well with cowboy and western voices. If you think my voice might suit your needs, please give me a try and I'll do everything I can to make it work.
My Voice Experience
I started in radio when I was 17 and I've been doing commercial voiceovers ever since. I've done well over 1,000 commercials, not to mention long form narration and phone system voiceovers. I've worked in broadcast radio and TV over the years and I'm currently a writer/director/editor/producer for a video and audio production company in Oregon. Currently, I do regular voiceovers for five local radio stations as well as other projects as they come up. My years of experience have given me a good feel for vocal quality and pacing.
Most of my education has come from working in the business. My father worked in radio in the mid-1940's and not only did I inherit his voice, I learned from watching and listening to his delivery as he was called upon to emcee most every event in our community while I was growing up. I started working part-time in radio while I was still in high school and my first job in TV came in the form of an internship while I attended college. Although I don't really have any formal training in this field, my post secondary education has been centered around English and music and I've been involved in media production for most of my adult life. I ran a mobile DJ service for years plus I've been playing bass guitar in bands since high school so I've been working with PA systems for a very long time.
My Studio Equipment
Our video production company edits with Apple's Final Cut Studio so I do most of my audio recording in Soundtrack Pro. In addition, I've got a Electro Voice RE20 microphone, an M-Audio FastTrack interface, M-Audio Studiophile AV40 reference speakers, a Mackie 1202-VLZ Pro mixing board and a Behringer VX2000 Ultra Voice. I also have easy access to two different radio station studios within a half mile of my office with a wide range of gear.
Between my years as voiceover talent and as a director, an editor, a copywriter, and a producer, I really do know my way around ad copy as well as long form narration. I've worked as on-air talent for radio, I've worked in both news and commercial production for broadcast TV and I currently work for a video production company. I hire voiceover talent for my own productions on a regular basis so I understand the process from both sides. I work hard to keep my clients happy and that means delivering a quality product, on-time...and that's what I'll provide to you as well as on-going communication throughout the entire process. While I have been doing this for a long time, that doesn't mean it's my way or the highway. You are the client and I'm not happy until you are.
