*Long ago I did radio jingles, and was the voice in the Shamu stadium welcoming the audience and telling them to move to the center of their sections, etc... used my smooth, deep, voice while smiling for a touch of jolliness.
My Voice Experience
I'm a professional vocalist, and have recorded several albums, mostly in the jazz genre. In addition, I've sung radio jingles (since childhood), provided the voice for welcoming the audience into the Shamu stadium (back in the early 80's), read and recorded children's books providing character voices (throughout my career), and provided narration for a teacher training video series. I currently host a radio show called The Vocal Hour, featuring female vocalists.
I studied theater arts in college, and performed in many plays and musicals, and also toured in performing casts for several shows. I can speak and read both North-American English, and a neutral Spanish. As a middle aged woman, my voice has a depth and yet a sweet quality at the same time. I'm an excellent narrator and book-reader.
Studied theater arts at Chico State University.
Bachelor of Science Degree in Speech and Language Pathology
Master of Arts in Teaching
Professional singer, actor, choreographer, director in various regional and community theaters
Private voice lessons for ten years with Muriel Brown Older, in California
Training in cognitive coaching, including use of voice while facilitating coaching sessions
On-the-job training in studio work, recording as back-up vocalist for demos
and also recording my own albums
I host a weekly radio show on KFSR called The Vocal Hour, which features female vocalists across a variety of genres and eras
My Studio Equipment
I work with Maximus Studios in Fresno, California.
They work with voice artists in-studio and from afar constantly in order to fulfill work for clients, so they are set up for all types of recording scenarios.
I'm an efficient and accurate reader.
I've worked 25 years as a classroom teacher and vocalist, choreographer, and radio host. In addition, I've served as a private consultant to school districts, training administrators and teachers. People always say that my voice is clear, pleasant, engaging, and easy to listen to, and my students love how I change my voice or accent during lessons to keep them engaged and laughing. They say this also helps them to remember things they've learned.
I've done so much studio work since childhood that I'm a quick study, get it right the first time, usually, and I've developed a great relationship with the engineers at Maximus Studios where they do a lot of work with voice actors. My experience in all of the performing arts, on stage, and behind the scenes gives me a real sense of how things need to work together smoothly to make the final "product" the best it can be.
