Accents, Impersonations, Characters and Dialects

Growing up in North Dakota I have a pretty natural upper-midwestern accent, but I can easily do an exaggerated accent like you would hear in the movie "Fargo". I can also get into a Canadian accent without any difficulty as well. Now that I live in Texas, I have a variety of southern accents that I can preform, from a slight accent to a full on backwoods with banjos playing in the background. Other regional accents that I can provide are Scottish/Irish, Russian, French, German, and a variety of English accents, from a older sounding proper English fellow, Cockney, and a Liverpool/Beatles accent. I can also do several impressions of celebrities and cartoon characters including Sean Connery, Bill Clinton, Christopher Walken, Mike Tyson, Kermit the Frog, Mickey Mouse, Grover, Yoda, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Dr. Claw, and The Joker. I can also make several animal noises very well like cats, dogs, cows, frogs, and the clicking noise that the Predator makes (or Perry the Platypus from Phineas and Ferb if you ask my kids).

My Voice Experience

I started working in radio in 2003 at Clear Channel Radio in Beaumont, TX and left in 2009. In that time I recorded hundreds of commercials and was on the air for five of those on the rock station here, Big Dog 106. In the past year I have started a podcast with a friend of mine and have recorded and produced some commercials just for fun.

My Training

I went to school at Northland Community and Technical College in Thief River Falls, MN for broadcasting and worked on the college radio station from January of 2001 until May of 2002. In that time I recorded several commercials every week while school was in session, as well as being on the air, and performed in a radio production of The Shadow. In my last semester there I took voice lessons for singing and learned some voice manipulation skills while doing that.

My Studio Equipment

I am currently using a Blue SnoBall straight into Cool Edit for my main recording. I do have access to a recording both at the radio station I used to work at.

Additional Skills

While working at Clear Channel I would edit and produce my commercials which would include layering my vocal tracks, adding music, and sound effects.
