My Voice Experience
I began voicing characters while telling jokes to my parents' friends at six and seven years old. This early skill got me the title role in my elementary school production of Rumplestiltskin in the third grade. I continued to develop a fearlessness for characterizations through humor, school projects, womanless beauty pageants, speech and drama classes, my college theatre group, and the college radio station. Early influences were Bill Cosby, George Carlin, and Richard Pryor. Allowed life to pull me from my dream of making a living from my vocal skills. I'm excited about the tremendous opportunities for my range, my wit, and professionalism. Age is a beautiful thing!
As mentioned above, I was in a college theatre group, Rogues and Vagabonds, and a DJ at the college radio station. I've studied speech and drama in order to hone my vocal craft, and to develop a proper stage presence. Am a member of a local Toastmasters club where I continue to stretch myself and take on voice characterizations to always expand my range. This may or may not qualify as training, but I rehearse in anticipation of imaginary speaking gigs. I make no claims on normal, but have a solid grip on the market and the talent to rock it. In my first studio work in years, my first read-through was a homerun; the centerfielder just watched it fly by. Love it!
My Studio Equipment
I'm beginning to build my studio by starting smart. I'm going with Cool Edit Pro software, and an inexpensive but quality mic, the Snowball by Blue. I'm using what is commonly referred to as a 'Studio in a Box' that allows my Study at home to become a terrific recording studio in minutes.
My vocal range and talent is as good as any other man my age, regardless of experience. What separates me from the pack is my ability to mesh with any client. I am that proverbial guy who has truly never met a stranger, and am a fearless speaker (any venue for any audience of any size at any time). My fearlessness has led me to preach revival in Cape Town and street preach in Guatemala, to address paralegal gatherings on the merits of 3d party assistance, and young attorneys on legal research. My ability to blend voice characterizations with wit, humor, compassion, and intellect won me the hand of the most beautiful woman on the planet...my wife. THAT was the vocal performance of a lifetime! I am thoroughly excited about earning a living doing what I truly love, and using my God-given abilities as a blessing to others.
