My Voice Experience

Irene's love for voice-over work started when she was studying vocal performance in college. The music department at Douglass College was disappointed she chose Economics as her major instead of voice after hearing her classical recitals of operatic arias from Mozart to Puccini. She also displayed her coloratura soprano voice with the Rutgers University Choir who performed in Carnegie Hall in New York City with the Baltimore Symphony under the direction of Sergei Commissione and the New Jersey Symphony led by Henry Lewis.

Coupled with her vocal skills and training was an intrigue in the 30-second art form of commercials which began in her childhood. She made a hobby of imitating the voices she heard in both radio and television commercials in pitch, inflection, and tempo just for fun.

Somewhere between the time she spent with Johnson & Johnson as a compensation analyst and John Nuveen & Co. as a wholesaler of municipal bond trusts, Irene sold radio advertising for WMGQ/WCTC in New Jersey where she recorded radio commercials for numerous national and regional companies such as the American Bartenders School, Millers on the Mall, Morris Stores, Loehmann's Plaza, Waterbed World, Allwood Furniture and more.

Her love to act before the microphone became known to her as a basic truth of who she really was. Her vocal training had paved the way for her to explore placement of her speaking voice in all registers from head to throat to chest which in turn sparked new interests in character and cartoon voices.

Smitten with interest and desire for this vocal art form, Irene pursued coaching with major talents in the field in New York: Pamela Lewis for cartoon/character voices, looping, dubbing; Wendy Dillon for private voice-over commercial reads as well as Dan Duckworth; Doe Lang for on-camera acting in both TV commercials and soaps; Bob McGonagle for radio and TV announcing; Communispond and Executive Technique for public speaking.

In a short time Irene found her voice-over skills were in demand from Monmouth Cable, Riverview Cable, Comcast Cable, and Fort Productions. Independent producers like Frank Drucker and Elise Von Stolk also contacted her for special projects. Elise wanted her voice type for its rich, articulate, resonate professional tone for the recording of the funding credits of the production entitled the Discovery Concert - Bach To the Future which aired on PBS stations nationwide. (Listen to Audio). Frank asked her to record the energetic trailer and promo of the Golden Books video called Madeline as well as their Christmas stories.

Irene's voice is outstanding for seductive tones, professional narrations, the upbeat kid, the dumb blonde, mother-know-best, the girl next door, the woman next door, the executive woman, the young mom, the female announcer - you name it - she can sell it!
