Accents, Impersonations, Characters and Dialects
I can perform many accents ranging from southern, Irish, hill billy (I have family in the south so I have permission), British and others. I've found that I can generally come up with the desired accent a client is looking for. I spend time studying voices to understand their various layers. I also do several celebrity impersonations including: Bill Clinton, Dr. Phil, Deputy Barney Fife, Telly Savalas, Homer Simpson, Kermit The Frog, Inspector Clouseau, and many others! Hey what can I say...I didn't have any childhood friends growing up~
My Voice Experience
I went into a studio once and the client was nervous about whether I could imitate Dan Akroyd's version of the Saturday Night Live sketch, "BASS-O-MATIC". I said, "well let me give it a try". After the first take, the client stood up, said something to the producer and left. I came out of the voice booth and asked what the client said. The producer responded, "He said you nailed it!". Over the last 20 years, I've voiced jobs for Subway Restaurants, colleges, banks, retails stores, radio stations, car dealerships, and many, many others. Sometimes the client doesn't want ME, but rather the voices in my head! I was a David Letterman "knock off" for a Ball State University project. I was also the voice of God for a particular project. I love to be creative with my voice work*
At the young age of 13 I noticed my voice was changing and that I couldn't make a free throw on the basketball court to save my life! So, I began taking Improv classes, which helped me as a voice over actor and even announcer. I can be as annimated or dramatic as the part calls for.
I've also worked for several radio stations in their commercial production department. Aside from stealing boxes and boxes of office supplies, I honed my skills as a professional voice over artist. I've received direction and training from several creative services directors in major markets. Most of them you've seen on "America's Most Wanted"~
My Studio Equipment
My home studio is just down the hall...take a right at the pile of dirty laundry, and you're there! I use Pro Tools and Cool Edit programs. I also sold several pints of blood and invested in a Neumann TLM 49 microphone. It sounds SOOO warm! I have proper soundproofing material that insulates my studio.
In addition to working in the voice over industry, I've been a radio broadcaster for over 15 years. I've worked in music and talk formats.
Plus I've held the position of Creative Services Director for a cluster of radio stations, which has helped me to understand, "urgency" of each project. Getting turned around quickly, and still with a professional result meeting the client's approval. I will work for you with enthusiamsm and you won't be disappointed.
I'm proud to say that I have won several awards from the Indiana Broadcasters Association for commercials I've voiced, written and produced.
