George Simpson

Deep, resonant, announcer, Average but not common.

Voice Description

I have years of experience as a radio announcer without common announcer diction. I try to keep it natural. I can do a natural read, upbeat or hard sell read, testosterone, a fairly stupid Russian accent. I also have done readings at the local library for kids, mostly Dr. Seuss.

Accents, Impersonations, Characters and Dialects

I can do a passable Russian accent, I can also do a very relaxed southern dialect without resorting to a ton of y'alls.

My Voice Experience

I have been a broadcaster for many years. Ain't much left of that. I can converse by phone naturally, news interviews, and any duty required by the station including remote broadcasts. I spent a couple of years with Sirius Satellite Radio on air, "The Border" (alt -country), Disorder (variety of folk, rock and more adventurous forms, and some appearances with the Sirius Rhythm of the Road tour as MC.
I currently work one day a week with WDEV, Waterbury, VT doing a show called "Music for the Intellectually Adventurous". I also act in local film projects.

My Training

High School and some college. I also went to CT School of Broadcasting in Hartford, CT. I am currently working with students from Champlain College in Burlington as an actor. I appear to be their resident go-to older guy. It's amazing what you can learn when doing.

My Studio Equipment

I primarily work from home with Adobe Audition with a Dell Optiplex and a small Peavy mixing board. I also have a Newmark Turntable and an Otari R2R machine. I can record and edit analog with razor, tape and grease pencil, but that just shows my age. I also have access to the studio at WDEV.

Additional Skills

If I am required to be at a studio of the client's choice, if it is Boston, Hartford, Providence or NYC, I can be there with 24 hours notice. I am also very knowledgeable in the field of Motorsports including but not limited to NASCAR, SCCA, DIRT, World of Outlaws, Indy, ALMS, Grand-AM and NHRA.

I also have spent some time in marketing in the ski industry including operations and retail.
