My Voice Experience
To be perfectly honest, I am new to the voice over game, but I have years and years of experience creating different voices and characters for myself. I have been in theatre since I was 7 years old, and I have always strived to make each character I portray unique vocally. I love testing my voice and seeing what its' limits are.
As a working actor, I know how this business works, and I am ready to get in and get my hands dirty. I regularly shoot sketch comedy videos for Youtube, and we regularly have to re-record our audio in one of our home studios, so I am very familiar with this sort of setup.
I have also recorded VO and ADR for some short films I have shot both here in LA and back in my hometown of Chicago, so I am also familiar with actual studio protocol.
I recently took an introductory class for voice over through The Actors Company, here in Los Angeles. It was taught by top voice over agent, Portia Scott-Hicks. It was a great start to the business, which culminated in recording a professionally-made demo.
In addition, I am a working actor, and have been out in LA for 2.5 years, honing my craft. I have taken numerous acting classes, most recently Acting the Truth with Steve Braun. His class focuses on getting out of your head and getting to the heart of the scene. The aim is to stop "acting" and just be present, which yields great results. I believe this is critical training that can be of significant value to a voice over artist, as recording VO requires you to be in the moment and be brutally honest in order to get a great performance.
My Studio Equipment
I have converted my walk-in closet into a home studio. I work off my macbook, and I have Adobe CS5 installed. I use Soundbooth for recording and mixing audio. I also have the full creative suite for any other post-production needs, as I also do freelance editing and color correction.
I currently have a Samson Meteor Mic USB, and that works great for the price, but I'm hoping to upgrade soon. I would love to get an Electro-Voice RE20, or even a Rode Broadcaster, if I can afford it. Hopefully my work on here will allow me to do that!
As I said above, I am a working actor. I have been acting since I was 7 years old, and I have been in the film industry for the past 5 years (living in LA for 2.5). As I currently work as a freelancer in the editing world, I know what turnaround times are like, and the quality that is expected of me. I deliver only the best results, and I will work around the clock to make sure you get them on time.
