My Voice Experience

I have participated in radio voice-over ads for a local business; "Shamus T-Bones Steakhouse" in Eureka, CA in May 2012. The ads were recorded in a local radio station's studio, and played on various local radio stations to promote the opening of the new restaurant, and promote my band, Dr Squid, playing at the grand opening. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience, therefore I'm seeking to find more work in this area!

My Training

Bachelor of Education in Early Childhood Studies - Edith Cowan University, Perth, Western Australia 2001-2005.

I have been a professional singer for over 10 years and have performed at many different events, including weddings, high school reunions, birthdays, political campaign parties, fundraisers, charity events, and music festivals. I believe this has provided me with a wealth of voice-over experience, as each venue and event required me to adapt my vocal style, in terms of tone, volume, inflection and delivery in order to suit the event.

For example: at birthday parties or high school reunions, I use a more expressive, energetic, lighthearted, and comedic voice, and often tell jokes to energize the crowd and keep spirits high.

At charity or political campaign events, I keep my tone friendly and inviting when addressing the crowd, and convey key points about the event in a clear, confident and professional manner.

At an event such as a wedding, I would combine different styles, such as an expressive, energetic voice to announce the bride and groom's entrance or bouquet toss, then a more softly spoken, inviting and calm tone to announce the first dance, etc.

I currently work as a receptionist at a day spa ("Glow", Eureka, CA., 2010-Present) so when talking with clients on the phone or in person, it is important I use a calm, professional and friendly tone in order for me to convey relaxation and indulgence, as well as professionalism, and give the client confidence in our treatments and high service standards.
