Brian McManus

Deep, Narrative, Instructional, Average Joe

Voice Description

I'm a relatively young adult male with a mid-ranged to low, resonant voice. I've spent several years in the military doing various types of training and also work in the civilian sector creating training. I've developed a clearly enunciated, relaxed narrative style that is great for presentations and instruction. I was born in the mid-west, so I have the "non accent" of the american midwest, but can, at times, pick up just a bit of southern drawl if desired.

My Voice Experience

I have been doing in-house recording for the last two or three years for my company, Janus Research Group. We create various training materials, instructional videos and presentations, primarily for government contracts. I have also been doing freelance pro-bono work by request over the internet, particularly via www.reddit.com/r/recordthis.

My Training

I have no formal training or experience in professional voice work. I was, however, a member of the International Thespian Society in high school where I spent all 4 years participating actively in both drama and chorus activities. I also spent several years working as a technical support representative speaking over the phone where I was regularly mistaken for a recorded message, and constantly told I should be "on the radio or something." The call center experience helped me to learn to master my voice and tone regardless of my actual mood, and to maintain clear diction and speech patterns for instruction.

My Studio Equipment

I currently record using a Whisper Room sound booth, with a Behringer B-1 condenser microphone. I record on an iMac running Sound Track Pro.
