The quarter million global visitors were also treated to over 1,100<\/em> exhibitors from 53<\/em> different countries and various gaming updates and releases – easily making this one of the biggest gaming events this year. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

What is Gamescom 2022?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Gamescom is an annual video game trade fair in Cologne, Germany – and is 13-years old. As the world’s largest gaming event, it draws thousands of visitors and exhibitors from various countries. In 2021, nearly six million people tuned in online just to watch Gamescom Opening Night Live. However, Gamescom 2022 Opening Night Live<\/a> drew twice that amount with over 12,000,000 views<\/strong> and 130 million views<\/strong> over the entire program. Each year incredible new games are presented and focus is placed on the well-deserved recognition game developers deserve for their achievements. Aspects like innovation, creativity, and craftsmanship all contribute to the winner\u2019s selection process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The best new game releases receive awards in over twenty categories. Although a gaming jury composed of experts select the eventual winners, Gamescom fans also get a say in the Consumer Awards section.<\/a> Here, fans get to vote for the first prize winners. At Gamescom 2022, over 30 games were revealed during the show including Hogwarts Legacy<\/em>, winner of the best trailer award, and Lies of P<\/em> winner of the most awards. Lies of P<\/a><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

As an interpretation of Pinocchio<\/a>, Lies of P won the most awards at Gamescom 2022. In the game, players become Pinocchio who\u2019s no longer a gullible wooden puppet. Instead, he\u2019s a human-like robot who still has the goal of becoming human. After waking up in a dreary-looking railway station Pinnocchio\u2019s goal is to follow a note that tells him to, Find Mr. Geppetto. Now, in a story twist, the concept of the game is to trust no one and lie to everyone. So, depending on how well the player lies, the various quests users must perform also play out differently. Despite its unconventional take on the original story, Lies of P took Gamescom 2022 by storm winning the most awards at this year’s event. This includes Most Anticipated Playstation Game<\/strong>, Best Action-Adventure,<\/strong> and Best Role-Playing Game<\/strong>!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gord is one of the top games at Gamescom 2022<\/a>. It’s a single-player adventure strategy game taking place in a bleak fantasy world based on Slavic folklore. The game features sinister forbidden lands and unearthly mythical creatures. It also incorporates city-building elements and players must complete different quests to increase their tribe\u2019s settlements. These settlements are GORDS. With unique survival elements, players must construct their own GORD and defend it from both dangerous creatures and enemy tribes. There are different ways in which players can fortify their GORD from invaders, but another challenge they must contend with is the populace within their GORD. Internal difficulties can have a devastating impact on the survival of a player\u2019s community through familial ties and even mental well-being.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
