My Home Base
Accents, Impersonations, Characters and Dialects
Accents/dialects: Australian (ranging from broad to basic), English (Cockney, posh, basic), Scottish, American and French.
I can do a broad Australian accent, similar to those in Kath and Kim, or something more muted/international, with an Australian edge.
I can do a Scottish accent along the lines of Billy Connoly.
I can speak in a posh or well-rounded English voice and also a Cockney accent; think the Artful Dodger or perhaps Jamie Oliver.
I can read many different characters in a book or play, and can be inventive with accents/voices where they are called for.
I love to be playful with my voice and explore different dialects and accents. In fact, my entire household is a bit wacky that way; we often converse in accents other than our own.
My Voice Experience
I am actively seeking to embark on a voiceover career. To date my experience is limited to home video productions. Try me; you may well find you've stumbled on a gem.
Drama at high school and university (University of Adelaide).
Repertory theatre course.
Musical theatre -- Oklahoma (Aunt Eller), Camelot (chorus)
Singer -- Cover band (Hong Kong), original band Walk on Water (Hong Kong), guitar/singer duo (Australia).
NB: Immediately after finishing high school I auditioned for Australia's National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA). Feedback from that process was that I had a good voice. One of my audition pieces was the queen's speech from Shakespeare's Richard III.
My Studio Equipment
iMac using GarageBand
Behringer MiniMic preamp
Shure SM58 dynamic mic
Blue Spark condenser mic
My 'day' job is editing, so I can and will happily assist with creating/editing scripts, or offer advice where requested.
I studied marketing at university (University of South Australia) as my major in a Bachelor of Business so I have a solid understanding of pitching products and services to target audiences.
