My Voice Experience
Since my return to college at age 25 I always jumped at an opportunity to use my voice, whether by singing solos, singing in an ensemble, or acting/performing for both small and large audiences. In the months prior to my second stint at college, I received a lot of praise for my voice, mostly speaking, when people would ask one of two questions: 1. Are you a singer? 2. Why aren't you on the radio, or broadcasting?
I took it to heart, and began asking questions of the staff in the school of communications and the music school about opportunities to present, announce, narrate, record, learn about the business of TV and radio or professional singer.
After graduating and eventually migrating to New York City, I found a wealth of opportunities to become both a professional singer and voice-over artist. It is an advantage that I can draw from one field and develop the other, interchangeably. I am willing to take risks and try new ideas, all in the spirit of creation and expanding horizons.
Bachelor's Degree in Vocal Performance from Ithaca College; opera workshop classes, acting classes, performance ensembles, student-run improvisation events, self-hosted solo recitals complete with narration and presentation, voice-over projects with students in school of communications, music technology class with recording and production projects
My Studio Equipment
I am currently building my home studio, but do not yet have the necessary equipment to begin production in my home.
Having studied Opera, I am adept with languages and linguistics, have impeccable diction, an understanding of the ebb and flow of sentence structure and phrasing in a variety of scenarios, and I luckily possess an excellent ear for the sounds of words and their many expressions.
From my many years working in restaurants, my communication instrument is very adaptable, clear, big when necessary. A good analogy can be derived from Teddy Roosevelt's famous quote: "Walk softly, and carry a big stick."
