Versatile-deep,resonant,high,tremulous,character

Voice Description

My voice is extremely versatile, expressive and imitative, with a very smooth and professional delivery and excellent enunciation. I possess a deep and resonant voice naturally, but I am also capable of high and tremulous tones. I read extremely well also. I can do everything from dignified and studied, to powerful and dramatic, to bold and exciting, to warm and casual for narrations, commercials, announcements, promotions and presentations on the one hand, and everything from subtle and light, to fearful and worried, to silly and comedic, to wistful and reminiscent for characters, cartoons, commercials, etc., on the other. (I've also been told by females since I was sixteen that my natural, deep voice can be extremely sexy if I use it that way).

To give an idea of my vocal variety and versatility, I could do the darkest heaviest, most ominous or action-packed movie trailer, yet I also do a perfect imitation of the horrible and faint-voiced Mr. Herbert from Family Guy--whistling 's's included. I can imitate many voices after hearing them just once or twice, often with spot-on pronunciation--examples are Geoffrey Rush as Barbosa, the Davy Jones character from 'Pirates' (with the Dutch accent), Christian Bale as Batman, Heath Ledger as the Joker, Sean Connery (with the Scottish accent), Mr. Herbert, a young boy or teenage boy, etc.

I also have a facility for languages, accents and dialects, though some might take a bit of brushing up here or there. I have had four years of French, three of Latin, two of German and one of Greek language courses in the past. I can speak bits or parts in any of these languages. Currently, I can do the accents noted above with the characters mentioned, but also British, French, German and probably other types of accents.

Accents, Impersonations, Characters and Dialects

Per above, to give an idea of my vocal variety and versatility, I could do the darkest heaviest, most ominous or action-packed movie trailer, yet I also do a perfect imitation of the horrible and faint-voiced Mr. Herbert from Family Guy--whistling 's's included. I can imitate many voices after hearing them just once or twice, often with spot-on pronunciation--examples are Geoffrey Rush as Barbosa, the Davy Jones character from 'Pirates' (with the Dutch accent), Christian Bale as Batman, Heath Ledger as the Joker, Sean Connery (with the Scottish accent), Arnold Schwarzenegger (accent goes without saying), and on the higher side, Mr. Herbert from Family Guy, a young boy, a teenage boy, etc. I believe I am actually much more of a voice actor than a voice.

I also have a facility for languages, accents and dialects, though some might take a bit of brushing up here or there. I have had four years of French, three of Latin, two of German and one of Greek language courses in the past. I can speak bits or parts in any of these languages. Currently, I can do the accents noted above with the characters mentioned, but also British, French, German, 'Californian', and probably other types of accents.

My Voice Experience

My experience has been mostly in radio thus far, though I've also been on set as an extra in a few movies and MC'ed events for groups as large as 600 people. I long to break into radio and tv commercials, announcements/promo's and narration, particularly, as well as animated movie roles or cartoon characters. My dream jobs would be either to become the next narrator for NFL Films or to have my own radio or television talk show one day. I could see myself anchoring almost any type of television program as well.

I have done public service announcements, traffic and weather reporting, entertainment and news reporting, and commercials. I have also had my own 15-minute syndicated radio show on stations across the Southwest, where I wrote, produced and announced the entire program. I've also been an extra in a few movies and grew up in Southern California, so I have some familiarity with the entertainment business, being on set, etc.

While it has been some time, I still have all of my skills, refined through constant practice and for my own amusement and the entertainment of those around me. I would like to return to using my talents now in as many projects as possible to build a powerful portfolio and eventually be able to pick and choose the best jobs. I believe my voice is unique, exceptional and memorable, and would be a refreshing change from many heard in media today. I would like to use my best attributes to contribute something meaningful to the world in the time I have left here, and to enhance the enjoyment of media for whoever hears my voice.

My Training

In all candor, my training has been real-world--at a radio station in California and a production studio in Phoenix--and some time ago, but I know there is always an ever-increasing need for talent, and I've got it. All I can say is, please listen to my demo and make your own judgment.

I also know there is a lot happening here in Michigan in the movie and music industries, and I live within twenty minutes of Detroit. Also, I have family ties in LA, Chicago and Phoenix, so I could do temporary assignments or projects in any of those places, but I also wouldn't be adverse to working in New York or elsewhere for an assignment. In about five years, my kids will be off to college, and then I would be free to go anywhere for a permanent position, if it came to be.

I graduated Cum Laude from California State University, Northridge, with a Bachelors in Humanities, emphasis in Literature and Classics.

My Studio Equipment

Well, as I mentioned, it's been a long time, but there are several studios here in the Detroit area, and I would buy the time needed to complete any tracks. I do have the radio experience to produce tracks, though I need to get familiar with today's equipment. That can be done, however. Just please give a listen to my voice--that's what matters! I can find the right people and get the production part done.

Additional Skills

I can also copywrite and have had extensive experience in creating marketing materials, advertising and web content, etc. I also write a monthly column for a very large industry-specific website and do creative writing as well. I can create material and voice it as needed, depending upon the industry or product. I have created company training manuals, risk and safety programs, product labeling and safety programs, stock letters, sales letters, brochures, flyers, newsletters, web content, etc. My writing is about as versatile as my voice!
