My Voice Experience

It's like when an attractive girl is always told that she should get into modeling. I've been showered with compliments about my voice since 10th grade (although the compliments are often accompanied by a remark that you wouldn't expect such a deep, rich voice to be vibrating from the vocal chords of someone with a baby face). I can sing "Georgia on My Mind" like Ray Charles, but needless to say, I look nothing like him (although he could not really have known what he looked like either).

I have no professional experience; I am an amateur. I have narrated a variety of student films, including my own, and have some experience in public speaking. Unlike many who cringe when they hear their voices played back to them, I have been well-adjusted to the sound of my own voice for some time, because my decade-long hobbies of recording music and making small films involved me constantly hearing my voice played back to me. My voice played back to me sounds like what I expect it to sound like. When I sing, I can anticipate the tone and timbre that I am going to hear.

Dreyfoos School of the Arts (audition-only magnet high school). Communication arts, film production and journalism.

Guitar: 9 years. Singing along with guitar: 3 years.
