My Voice Experience

I have 13 years of improv experience from Bay Area Theater Sports in San Francisco to ComedySportz in Chicago. I've also studied at Second City and The Annoyance. My voiceover experience has yet to begin, but I feel that, after making my demo with professional equipment and a dynamite voice coach, I understand the field well enough as to easily adapt my theater experience to the studio.

My Training

I cut my demo at KJ Audio in Chicago with Kayce Alltop coaching. I practiced for an hour a day for 2 months. I also studied Theater Sports in San Francisco for 7 years before moving to Chicago to study improv at the Second City Training Center. I am now playing to sold out shows at ComedySportzChicago and doing stand up throughout the week. I am currently in school studying for a history degree from DePaul University.

My Studio Equipment

I have a digital voice recorder and a MacBook with Garage Band. Both work great. I've done many recordings in my apartment closet and it sounds great. I can send you some samples.

Additional Skills

Hailing from Albuquerque, New Mexico, and a decorated graduate of Hard Knocks University (HKU) - I have seen it all. A dedicated skateboarder since kindergarten, I have had my fare share of encounters with the "crazies." Little did they know, I was taking note of their voice, body movements, and behavior. Fast-forward 20 + years, I have used those people as vehicles for my comedic timing and character choices. I brought these voices with me to San Francisco where I studied improv at Bay Area Theater Sports (BATS) for 6 years, winning them the second place California Area Theater Sports (CATS) competition trophy from Ventura, California in 1999. Adding to my halfway house of mixed nuts, I went to Asia to seek out characters with more global perspectives. As these characters became louder and their perspectives more refined, I felt the need to share them with a broader demographic, and more experienced institutions. I landed in Chicago in 2003, where I studied at the Second City Conservatory and The Annoyance Theater doing improv and sketch. After my studies at the Second City, I was invited into The Second City House ensemble, Lordosis Effect, opening for the Second City Touring Companies, and later joined the Comedy Sportz ensemble. I also had the sensational privilege of performing with ComedySportz’ late night ritzy series, Cocktail Hour. I am continuing to do improv and sketch with such groups as The Playground member team CLOAKA and the late night trucker improv group The Stevens Family, Thursday nights at 10. I am a founding member of the footloose two-man sketch group Man 1 Man 2, which has performed all over Chicago, including SketchFest, in the 2007-08 productions. I also do stand up all over the Chicago area. I recently opened for the Meehan Brothers in San Francisco for their annual showcase. I also work at a preschool, reading aloud to 5 year olds everyday. It's exhausting, but fun!
