Voice Description

The majority of my voicework (and success in the business) lies in hard sells, warm and deep narrations, and rock radio imaging voiceovers. I am located in the Midwest across the lake from Chicago, so most of my experience is imitating Chicago dialects and some "Upper Peninsula" dialects, but otherwise dialect is undetectable in normal reads.

The basic description of my voice is that I have just enough pipes to supply a nice amount of rich, warm sound to your project, but my voice is not overly excessively low, nor is it excessively high. Interested in attempting "goofy" and "fun" voices, or voiceovers for cartoons.

My most recent work has been with the Michigan High School Athletic Association's sports broadcasts of state finals games. I am responsible for producing the imaging surrounding the broadcasts for webcast, television and radio. A demo of one of the opening sequences is included in this site and is a great example of a hard sell, exciting and energetic performance.

Accents, Impersonations, Characters and Dialects

Mostly Chicago and Upper Peninsula accents, as well as Canadian and more recently, "Sarah Palin Alaskan." Impersonations can vary but if I have a YouTube video or recording of someone that I need to imitate, I can likely do it or make Cool Edit help!

My Voice Experience

Most experience has been with creative services direction, with copywriting that supplements my talent. I have produced over 200 spots within the last 6 years for local and regional use in the Southwest Michigan area and beyond. I've also spent over 5 years working specifically on creative services production in addition to on-air personality work in Rock, Hot AC and Country radio. Additionally, I am a sports public address announcer for one of the local high schools.

My Training

I have a BA in Communication from Ferris State University in Big Rapids, Michigan, where I received voice training and extensive communication theory education. I have also learned from several other professional voiceover artists and Creative Services personnel. Additionally, I was a performing arts student in middle and high school as well as college. I am proficient in using all technical equipment for voiceover services including software and hardware.

My Studio Equipment

Symetrix voice processing, RE-20 ElectroVoice microphones, Logitek boards and radio-quality processing. Also have studios with Behringer monitors, mixing equipment, sound cards from Lynx and Digigram and more.

Additional Skills

I am a Program Director for a Rock station in Southwest Michigan and also work as a member of the Creative Services team for Mid-West Family Broadcasting.

I am a member of the Michigan Association of Broadcasters and also a member of the National Association of Sports Public Address Announcers.
