Voice Description

My voice has often been said to be soothing but personally I think I have the perfect voice for narration type work such as reading books on tape. I love to read to small children and like to take on the characters that I reading. When reading for adults I can keep my voice smooth and professional sounding with just the right amount of inflection to keep an audience awake and alert while injecting the right amount of fun for children. My many years of stage work as well as radio, tv and film (BA-Communications Radio/TV; MFA-Film)coupled with my experience with Toastmasters of America have taught me to adapt to the audience that I'm addressing to make narrations warm and deep and above all, understanding for clearer enjoyment.

My Voice Experience

Being a filmmaker, my actual recorded experience is limited to doing some voice over work on my films and some of the films of classmates and friends who also aspire to be the next great Oliver Stone. But I do have much experience doing public readings and speeches of which I began at the tender age of eight. Starting in church and raising my voice in the name of Christ, I continued on through until I went to college doing speeches, readings (in church and in public forums) for children's entertainment and school functions. I am now looking for a new venue to continue with my love of speaking and take my talent to the next level in experience and growth.

My Training

My talent is natural but I would like to say that I have honed my skills over the years; however, by continually being involved in community theatre as well as being a Lon Morris College (Jacksonville, TX) junior college community theatre major. I then decided to take it further by majoring in Communication Radio/TV (Stephen F. Austin State Univ. Nacogdoches, TX) and push my growth by obtaining my BA degree but not before performing within the educational arena of the campus radio and tv to give me yet more experience at listening and retaining an audience.
Now, having achieved my MFA at Howard Univ. in Washington DC in film, is only enhancing everything I've learned thus far to this point, even more.

Additional Skills

All I can say is I never give up and try to give all that I've got so the most anyone can do is try me out! I am very creative but I believe in being honest and upfront with people. If I can't handle something, I will tell you from the outset and if I think I can handle it then find I can't, I'll let you know in enough time that I don't leave you in the lurch. My motto is treat people how I want to be treated and this is all I would ask of you so it's what I would give in return.
