My Voice Experience

Now that I think about it, it all started when my grade school band instructor picked my voice out of our entire group when "everyone was talking" and pulled me aside to please ask ME to stop talking. I decided to move on and not take it too personal and used this gift to my advantage. I've since taken on as many leadership roles as possible in everything from sports, class discussions, and sales, down to radio promotions, sales, and direct marketing (glorified door to door sales) It was the latter two that brought to my attention the impact that my voice really does have, so...here I am!

My Training

The only real training I've had was a public speaking course I took in college. Here I was guided in the ways of how to adapt my voice to the type of speech I was giving. For example, if you're giving an informative speech to an older crowd you've got to keep it slow and precise, not too overwhelming. On the otherhand, if you're doing a persuasive speech about why to vaccation in the bahamas, you've got to be more excitable and upbeat, emphasing key "selling points" with voice flux.
