My Voice Experience

Experience below:

Picture Ja-Ja-Jimmy Shtoo-art advertising Just For Men Hair Products or doing the Oscar Mayer jingle.
Picture Norman Bates' mother doing an ad for, Craftmatic Beds, or Universal Studios' Islands of Adventure.
How about Dudley Do-Right for Enzyte?
Or Fred Flinstone singing 'Tiptoe Through The Tulips?
I have done Narrations and TV Commercials, but I have the potential to do almost any kind of voice you may be looking for.
With my Advertising Degree and experience, open and child-like inquisitive nature, and my natural range for different emotions, textures, inflections, and enunciations, I will try any voice.

I have a polished and professional narration and news/radio voice, but can also do characters and novelty voices.
I have a knack for delivering just the emotion or individual style that would attract your viewers and potential customers/clients, depending on the specific product or service.
I could adapt my voice to the feel and your particular individual needs.

My Training

Voice-Overs have always come naturally for me.
Growing up in the 60's and 70's and being a media addict, I learned to do imitations and many different kinds of voices, and have always caused people to react and laugh.
My natural speaking voice does not hint at my talents; my family at first did not believe it was me doing commercials.

I was involved with amatuer film-making with a good friend of mine in the 70's and 80's (Super 8, Beta, etc.) and developed many characters and voices from that. We did parodies, take-offs, original characters, make-up, etc.
We also did 'Jerky Boys'-type pranks using voices to call friends ("YOU have won an all-expense paid trip to beautiful Dry Prong, Louisiana").

I earned a B.A. in Advertising/Journalism from Louisiana State University in 1984.
Many of my courses in the Advertising curriculum involved creative writing, film making, TV production, logo and graphics, acting, TV, radio, newspaper and other media marketing theory, media buying, ad campaigns, etc.

In 1994, I asked a friend of mine who worked in the local cable-TV access industry to do a voice demo for me. I just bascially read ads, movie promos, news stories, etc.
At the time, I was working in Marketing at Cox Cable, and the producers at the time - Jamey Landry and Bob Pavlovich, liked my tape, so they used me for many commercials over the next 10 years.
The Cox Cable Baton Rouge producer - Nils Breckoff, still uses me.

Additional Skills

My education in Advertising has given me a great background and feel for demographic marketing strategies, subliminal advertising, advertising by association, jingles, slogans, etc.

In addition to my amateur film-making, I have also appeared in six movies as a stand-in or extra, and two TV commercials.
I think I have a great understanding and feel for how to convey copy and what type of feeling, emotion, nuance, inflection, and enunciation to use to get the viewers' and listeners' attention.
A great voice-over appeals to an emotion and/or elicits a reaction and hopefully name recognition and memory.

I also have business experience in:

Corporate Communications - Media Relations:
LSU Medical Center in New Orleans
Radio Marketing Research Director: WQUE-FM
Call Center Administration: USDA/TSP
Telecommunications: USDA/NFC
Customer Service supervision: TSP
TDD - Telecommunications Device for the Deaf: TSP
