My Training
I have been trained in voice-over techniques by Jeff Lupetin at The Acting Studio in Chicago, Jenny Avery at Bosco Productions in Chicago, Sherri Berger, and Denny Farrell, a long-time radio voice and voice-over artist in the the Chicago area. I also have been coached by Gabrielle Nistico at VoiceHunter, and attended three days of voice-over workshops at the Voice 2010 conference in Los Angeles.
I studied audio recording through Harper College in Palatine, IL with recording engineer John Towner.
Before entering the voice-over world, I worked for 28 years as a copy editor and photo editor at a large Chicago newspaper. I also did some website editing there.
I am a long-time member, section leader and board member for the Chicago Master Singers, a large classical chorus.
I have a Bachelor of Science degree in news-editorial journalism from Northern Illinois University, with a minor in Spanish.
My Studio Equipment
I have a simple home studio which utilizes a Mojave MA 200 tube condenser microphone, a Shure SM7B dynamic mic, MXL V88 and AKG C1000S condenser microphones, an Avalon M5 preamp, an M-Audio Fast Track Ultra audio interface and Pro Tools recording and editing software. Home-audio expert Dan Lenard helped me fine-tune my audio setup and the acoustics in my recording space. I also have Phone Patch.
Additional Skills
I have a strong work ethic and respect for professionalism and deadlines that comes from my extensive experience working for a major daily newspaper. I take my work seriously, but also like to have fun with it.
I play guitar reasonably well, and numerous other musical instruments a little.
