My Training
I have been trained in voice-over techniques and radio performance by Denny Farrell, a long-time radio voice and voice-over artist in the the Chicago area, and by Jenny Avery at Bosco Productions in Chicago.
More recently I studied audio recording through Harper College in Palatine, IL. The classes were held in a professional recording studio utilizing advanced equipment and Pro Tools software, and were taught by recording engineer John Towner.
Before entering the voice-over world, I worked for 28 years as a copy editor and photo editor at a large Chicago newspaper. I also did some website editing there.
I am a long-time member and section leader for the Chicago Master Singers, a large classical chorus.
I have a Bachelor of Science degree in news-editorial journalism from Northern Illinois University, with a minor in Spanish.
My Studio Equipment
I have a simple home studio which utilizes MXL V88 condenser and AKG C1000S condenser microphones, an M-Audio Fast Track Ultra audio interface and Pro Tools recording and editing software. I also have Phone Patch.
Additional Skills
I have a strong work ethic and respect for professionalism and deadlines that comes from my extensive experience working for a major daily newspaper. I take my work seriously, but also like to have fun with it.
I play guitar reasonably well, and numerous other musical instruments a little.
