Voice Description

Native speaker of both English (American) and Spanish (Latinamerican). My English is neutral, midwest USA, and my Spanish voice talent is very neutral as well (originally from Venezuela). I'm also able to do various character-type voiceovers: from lower voice, high-society type voices to loud and "not very educated" voiceovers, from a lowervoice "sensual" cat character to a squeeky voice creature/cartoon characters. I'm typically called for voiceover jobs which require: real person, warm, friendly, 30s-40s . I've done many narration jobs (English and Spanish), various Spanish PSA voiceovers, plus informational spots on hospitals and such, and commercials, etc.

My Voice Experience

The voice over spots I've done are so varied that the best way I can sum it up is: going from the voice of a sensual Persian cat (in Spanish) for the Miami Children's Museum to a few short Spanish Toyota or BriteHouse radio commercials, besides doing seven female characters for videos/cassettes for a new bank in Florida, BB&T, (Spanish with an English accent, plus English with various Spanish accents and intonations), to dead-serious narrations for the Methodist Church in Guatemala, to an Educational DVD Series to learn Spanish by McGrawHill ... to a commercial in which a little old lady explained how to cure an ailment by putting garlic up her nose(!)

My Training

I think what got me into this kind of work is my experience in the music world in Latinamerica. I am a composer/arranger/director (graduate of Berklee College of Music) who made her career in Venezuela. I had the opportunity of doing every kind of work you can think of, including all musical work that Tupperware/Venezuela needed for 10 years, plus jingles and all different sorts of spots for other companies in Venezuela, besides theatre musicals and plays, 20 records (CDs) for various artists, etc. I used to direct voice overs / singers for those jobs and this time, now that I'm in the USA, I'm on the other side of the microphone!....enjoying it!

My Studio Equipment

Presently work with a PowerMac G5 (OSX 10.4.9)- Dual 2GHz Processor, 3GB Ram, a couple of external drives. (have a PowerMac G4 Quicksilver but not using presently. Also have Windows XP for other items).
Preferred Microphone: AudioTechnica AT4033a, pop filter.
MBox audio interface, MOTU Micro Express MIDI interface.
DAWs: ProTools 7.x, Digital Performer 4.6, Logic Pro 7, including all their regular plug-ins.
Virtual sampler MachFive, other virtual: Reason 3.0, plus all virtual instruments provided by ProTools, DP and Logic.
Mackie CR1604-VLZ board, Event 20/20 biamp monitors, numerous external synthesizer modules (Roland XV3080, U220, S550, D550; EMU Proteus FX, Proteus 2 Orchestral; Kurzweil MicroPiano), MIDI keyboards (vintage DX7 and Korg X5). Other outboard equip which I don't use much anymore (Panasonic DAT SV3800, Yamaha SPX90, BBE 422A).

Additional Skills

Since I've been back in the USA and because I am completely bilingual in English and Spanish, I have had the opportunity of doing a lot of translation work in the last nine years or so. I also teach at Valencia Community College, for the Music Production Dept. My course is Midi Production. I'm always willing to prepare voiceover auditions for whomever needs them.
