My Voice Experience
I competed nationally with a top-ranked forensics team for several years, performaing everything from public address to oral interpretation. Many performances required extensive dialect training, as well as vocal coaching. I then went on to serve as assistant coach for another nationally-ranked team, where I helped the students develop their voices. I am currently employed as a disc jockey at a country music station, where I am the talent for the midday work shift from 10am-3pm every day. I have also participated in numerous theatrical performances at the amateur, educational, and professional levels. I served as a counselor for a theatre camp for developmentally disabled adults, in which we focused on refining and polishing vocal skills. All of this experience has given me a deep and profound love of the voice and the myriad powers it possesses.
My Training
I have a bachelor's degree in Communication Arts with an emphasis in theatre, and I am currently working on my Master's degree in theatre studies. During my undergraduate career, I took several broadcasting classes, but fell just one class short of achieving my minor, due to an early graduation. My participation in forensics has led to extensive voice training and coaching, resulting in several national awards. I took courses in voice and diction, which were helpful in teaching me the technical aspect of the voice. Perhaps the most valuable and practical training has been my training at the radio station where I currently work - it has made me comfortable in front of a mic (rather than in front of a live audience) and given me the great ability to exercise my voice.

Additional Skills
I can perform most any age group, though my voice is probably more suited for a younger female (small child to middle age). I can, however, do an older female with practice. I can do a variety of character voices, and I have a broad speaking range. I am comfortable with nearly any dialect, and can pick them up quickly. I have a background in acting, which aids my vocal interpretations greatly. My voice has a slight "Disney" quality to it, though it has a bit of a husk, which I love to play with.
