Voice Description

I can speak fairly good Dutch, Spanish and French and can immitate a pretty good Carribbean voice! I think my voice can sound deep and colourful which would be an asset for narrating stories which I love to do making my own adaptations to the various characters in a story. I dont do a bad Donald Duck voice but my daughter thinks Im crap at the Southpark characters!!!I would be great at presentations as my voice can sound very professional and thespian-like. On the other hand I can also sound as common as muck, doing a cockney accent! I am also good at other accents such as Liverpudlian, Irish and Scottish. I am presently booking myself onto as many drama and voice workshops that will be available in Norwich in the new term to help me along with experience and a fuller CV.

My Voice Experience

I have a musical background being oratorio singing and classical piano. I was on tour with a theater company being the singing narrator of a play called "the dreamtime" by Pete Brooks and composer Jocelyn Pook. I have thoroughly enjoyed reading nearly all the Harry Potter books to my daughter over the years, including books by Roald Dahl, always interpreting the characters with my own version of their voices. I was a contralto with the Suffolk Bach Choir. I have also played an eccentric fairy godmother in Cinderella at a local pantomime in Suffolk, using a very affected posh voice for the occasion!I have also been studying counselling work and incorporating hypno therapy within my studies;my two clients telling me I had a very soothing voice which enabled them to go deep into relaxation easily. A close friend of mine said I had a thespian quality to my voice which definitely comes across on the phone!

My Training

I took all my grades in piano and voice(1-8). I attended Colchester Institute of Higher Education to do "A"level music, and went onto do a Dip Mus at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. I went on tour with Merseyside Young Peoples Theater in 1990, being the singing narrator of the play. I have taught voice and piano privately over the years. I am currently a trainee counsellor and support worker, so I have good communication skills. I have spoken publically at various functions over the years, including doing some voluntary work with prisoners. I have also participated in numerous music festivals during my life.
