Voice Description

I am a voice talent with a very flexible voice. My voiceover can be smooth and sexy for a radio voice or commercial where a smooth and sexy voice would be appropriate. For voiceover work that requires a character who is loud, nagging, or bossy -I can provide these voice services as well. For narrations and storytelling, I add a lot of flexibility, different tones and bring a of life to the written words. I sing blues, jazz and gospel,however I do not read music.

My Voice Experience

I have performed on Broadway and in many Broadway show tours. In all of these shows, I was a featured character. I have been a character in "Godspell", Lucetta in "Two Gentlemen of Verona", Dina in the "Magic Show", Prissy in "Gone With the Wind"-the Musical, and Addaperl (the good witch of the North) in "The Wiz"; to name a few.
I have done on camera work for a PBS show out of North Carolina, entitled "Carolina Countryside". Currently I am an inspirational and motivational speaker and perform one-woman shows at universities and conferences. (My former Actors Equity name was John-Ann Washington.)

My Training

As an acting major at New York University School of the Arts, I studied voice. Since that time (the 70s), I have learned and gained experience as a voiceover artist from working extensively in the entertainment field.
