Voice Description

My voice has been described by others as warm, soothing, and relaxing at times. During normal conversations I try to make the most out of every word and I have fun doing it. In other words, I try to get as much mileage out of every word as possible while speaking clearly and confidently. I can sell anything and look forward to doing some voiceover work.

In my profession there are times when I need to speak in a more direct forceful manner in order to emphasize the points at hand. At other times I find that being my normal, sometimes humorous self, is what it takes to get the job done. I really enjoy talking.

My Voice Experience

For a long time I have been aware of the influential power of using the right tone of voice. A few years ago I worked as an on-air "jock" for 96.7 KCMQ, a top forty radio station in Columbia, Missouri. During that time I did voiceover recordings for ads, PSA's, and the voice of the stations weatherline.
Having taught D.A.R.E. for three years, I have done a lot of public speaking and I am very aware of what it takes to hold the attention of the listeners and keep them involved. I have ocassionally been called to speak at my church and at community events. I also conduct about one hundred interviews each year.

My Training

My on the job training comes from the two years I spent in the radio industry.

I completed a Nightingale-Conent "Conversation Power" communications course ten years ago. This course helped me to develop the ability to communicate ideas and intentions effectively.

I have had people ask me to do voice mail greetings for them.
