I have trained in voice over with Edge Studio (Washington, DC) since May 2009. In addition, I have over a decade of experience using my voice professionally as a corporate trainer and public speaker. As in voice over, success in those capacities demands that the speaker a)know her audience and their expectations; and then b)convey the message in a way that strikes a familiar emotional and/or logical chord with listeners.
I began (and continue) my voice training with Edge Studio in Washington, DC. My voice education thus far has included:
- Private Coaching (Edge Studio) with Kerry Miller and Danielle Quisenberry
- Technique 101 w/Danielle Quisenberry and Eric Rath
- Talk and Act Pro with Erik Sheppard
- Breaking Down Copy with Kerry Miller
- Regular participation in technique and audition workshops
I earned my MBA from Johns Hopkins University in 2005. I pursued the degree while working for a Washington, DC trade organization where I developed and deployed corporate training and managed and mined an organization-wide database. After completing the degree, I worked in public relations and marketing in Phoenix. Besides training, my public speaking experiences include delivering corporate presentations, reading and improvising children's stories, and -- beginning in January 2010 -- volunteering as a planetarium teacher for local kindergarteners.
I am an information junkie, consuming large quantities of public radio, web-based news, and old-fashioned newspapers daily. I have been an inveterate journal-keeper since receiving a diary on my ninth birthday.
